Dominicana: A Novel (Flatiron Books, 2019) by Angie Cruz is a coming-of-age story of a young woman finding her voice in the world. Set in 1965 Washington Heights, the novel was inspired by Cruz’s mother. A Spanish translation by Kianny N. Antigua was recently published by Editorial Siete Cuentos (2021).

Open Plaza presents a conversation between the author and educator Stephen Adubato, along with bilingual excerpts from Dominicana.
